Have you heard about “pure” silence? Does it exist? The images that come to mind are the silence of nature, especially, the bottom of the sea. But in none of these places is there absolute silence. In any space, as quiet as possible, there will be some noise, even if it is from our own heartbeat. And it is through this image that I affirm that silence always has meaning as long as it is understood as significant. From the moment we are immersed in silence, and the more we immerse ourselves, the better we listen to ourselves.
Corroborating Susan Sontag's thinking, in the Aesthetics of Silence, an essay published in 1967, the silence was used by artists as a way of transforming art, a reluctance to communicate within standards.
The purpose of my creative project is to present a brief series of conceptual works, which I call silence.
Based on an interest in exploring several types of silence, my work presents mostly the theme of silence during communication with nature (riding horses, sea therapy, kayaking, birds and shadows), quarantine, the bustling of vehicles, the state during flight, shower and morning walk.
While making this project, I was understanding that there is always something positive to hear. Owing to keeping silent, we are able to hear even our own thoughts, which, before, some of us had practically no time to do. You can hear the sound of life.
